Campania - what remains of the Land of Myth

No matter if you live in Italy or abroad. What is happening in Naples and in most of Campania provences is available everywhere in the world. Newspapers and TV show the results of a lack of responsibility concerning waste disposal, and I dare say the lack of responsability in general.
In Campania and in Italy. The mountains of garbage are making streets so narrow that people can't even drive, kids are not going to school, the economy is totally stuck in this problem.
A problem that comes from very far, in time and space. And now there is no time and no space.
Those who live in beautiful Tuscany, but where born in the fantastic land of Myth, as me, can't help in asking themselves: how is that possible? even though Naples city historical centre is clean, and maybe Amalfi Coast as well, tourist won't come anymore if the image of this land will go on being like this. And the problem is that is not only an image, is just reality.

I love the city where I live, Lucca, and Tuscany in general. But I can't forget where part of my roots are. They are in the South, South of Italy geographically, South of the World if you think about waste disposal, crime, ignorance.

But there is one thing that help me in bearing this pain when thinking about there in Campania: it is the fact that there are good people there. Not only crime, not only ignorance, not only rubbish.

There are people that believe in culture, and in their culture. There are people supporting local sustainable development, there are people thinking that the beauty of that land is a gift they can't waste.

I know they have hard lives, I know it is difficult to support them. We could just think that something else exist there, not only what we can see on Tv o read in the newspapers.
We could keep our curiosity towards Naples and Campania language and music, traditional unique recipes, architectonical beauties.

Don't forget this, and maybe there is a hope.
That's what remains, maybe, in the Land of Myth
